Henri Champliau Cremant de Bourgogne
The aroma and flavour of Brut Authentique is driven by Pinot Noir, which brings strength and complexity to the blend, while Chardonnay provides freshness and precision. Fifteen months aging contributes richness and texture to this high-quality example of Crémant de Bourgogne. Fabulous dry Fizz made in the traditional Champagne method.
“This wine, as usual in the Entre-Deux-Mers, is made up mainly of early-ripening Merlot but with a good chunk of character-forming Cabernet too – 63% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc. It’s given a full year’s ageing in small oak barrels and tastes as though there has been some pretty superior oak ageing. It’s hugely enjoyable with quite an intense nose and impressive ripeness but it finishes with the dry, savoury (not drying), lightly tannic, appetising finish that is typical of Bordeaux.” Jancis Robinson MW 2019
Picnic Two Paddocks Pinot Noir
Classic Kiwi Pinot Noir from Central Otago and the vineyards owned by Northern Ireland born actor Sam Neill. It is hand harvested and after fermentation the wine is transferred to French oak barriques for 10 months before bottling. Wonderfully balanced with juicy red and black cherries, wild strawberries, redcurrants and a hint of spice.
Louis Latour Chablis
Pale straw yellow, a fruit packed bouquet with citrus highlights especially lemon. Rounded, with hints of almonds, honeysuckle and floral notes. Full bodied texture with the typical minerality of Chablis and a long elegant finish. The mineral notes come from the ancient limestone slopes of the vineyards. The wine is aged for up to 10 months in stainless steel vats.
Heart of Stone Sauvignon Blanc
Heart of Stone is sourced from grapes grown in Marlborough in an area where the vines struggle for survival in ancient riverbed stones and gravel. The resultant crop amounts to only a handful of intensely flavoured grapes per vine. Vibrant with flavours of blackberry, gooseberry and passion-fruit underscored by appetising, crisp acidity which produces a refreshing finish.
Unfiltered Late Bottled Vintage Port from Fonseca, with notes of juicy plums, dark chocolate, liquorice and a hint of balsamic on the palate. Try pairing this Port with rich cheeses such as Stilton or Roquefort, or with fruity, chocolate-based desserts. Totally delicious!
The wine critic James Suckling, author of the most comprehensive book on Vintage Port written to date, once described Fonseca as 'the Bentley' of Vintage Port, meaning the producer of wines for the connoisseur and enthusiast. Like the famous luxury cars, Fonseca Vintage Ports are thoroughbreds, the result of craftsmanship and skill, but also of passion and creativity.
